More about this scene
We are looking towards the gatehouse. Many of the windows featured in these pictures date from remodelling undertaken during the Tudor and Jacobean periods. The late 19th-century work by Bodley was of such high standard and blended in so well that it is now difficult to identify. The circular patch of light stone on the gatehouse is where a clock face used to be.
