Walsingham Road

A Memory of St Paul's Cray.

I'm a bit younger than some of you on here but I lived in Walsingham Road (30) , from about 1965 up until the early 80s. Many fond memories there as a child and teenager. I went to Grays Farm school first and then on to Cray Valley later on, but it was later called Kemal Manor. As a kid a few things stuck out as particularly wonderful, like playing footy at the reck which was near the Spar shop on Sevenoaks way. Also I used to buy records from my favorite record shop in Cotmandine.... seem to remember it may have been called 'Leakes' but changed its name to 'Petronix' a bit later!!!! I had a paper round at Martins to newsagent there which meant I delivered all over the area inc Broom avenue where my best mate lived. Wonderful times, wonderful place!!!! I now live in Darlington up north!!!!

I’m reading this and feel I must know you. I too lived in St Paul’s Cray, went to Cray Valley school between 1972 and 1977. Prior to that went to Midfield Primary.
Used to knock around on Walsingham Road and play football on the rec, and also had a good mate on Broom Avenue who went to Grays Farm then Cray Valley where he was in the same class as me, sadly no longer with us.
I too left the area and moved to Nottingham in 1987. Too much of a coincidence for us not to know each other?
