The thing that really annoyed me about ST. Paul's Cray when it was first built and we moved there early 1949 was that there were no shops!! Long walk to ST Mary Cray high Street! The first thing that was built were PUBS!! The partridge in chipper field road. The wanderer at the top of my road Ravensbury. The crayfish near silver dale road. The Robin hood out side At. Mary Cray station..
Does anybody know when the infant block closed, the name of the Catholic school that took place? About 1962/3? I remember it having a reputation in sorting out troublesome children, the discipline was super strict.
I lived at 70 Dawsons ave , I remember Gerald Tilney ,Remember being bullied by him......So I thumped him very hard on his nose .Very quiet then.
I'm a bit younger than some of you on here but I lived in Walsingham Road (30) , from about 1965 up until the early 80s. Many fond memories there as a child and teenager. I went to Grays Farm school first and then on to Cray Valley later on, but it was later called Kemal Manor. As a kid a few things stuck out as particularly wonderful, like playing footy at the reck which was near the Spar shop on Sevenoaks ...see more
Hi. Only just discovered this website so would like to share my memories. Does anyone remember the prefabs in St. Paul's Cray? We were living with my Nan & Grandad in Chislehurst and after the War, my Dad was still away in the Navy. My Mum applied for a prefab and when I was two and my brother a few months old we moved to Robin Way opposite Corke's Meadow, which was a gypsy camp. This was either the end of 1946 ...see more
I used to live at Orchard Place, small terrace cottages on Main Road, St Pauls Cray. Previous to this as readers may recall I lived at the top of Chalk Pit Avenue in a semi-detached bungalow with my parents. The move to the lower part of the town was owing to family health issues and the time I spent at Orchard Place with mum and dad is something I remember quite well. In the ...see more
I was living at the time at the top of what was called Chalk Pit Avenue, then an unmade and often muddy road in bad weather, at the bottom of the garden was a field and across the field was a fairly large house with what must have been a glass covered veranda as in the sunshine it shone a beautiful pinkish colour. My mother and I and one of our neighbours used to spend lots of time up in the ...see more
