My Life In St.Pauls Cray

A Memory of St Paul's Cray.

The thing that really annoyed me about ST. Paul's Cray when it was first built and we moved there early 1949 was that there were no shops!! Long walk to ST Mary Cray high Street! The first thing that was built were PUBS!! The partridge in chipper field road. The wanderer at the top of my road Ravensbury. The crayfish near silver dale road. The Robin hood out side At. Mary Cray station..

I lived in dates court rd from 1949when it was first built.had great days growing up around there didn't realize at the time how good it was.schooling was a different matter.didn't have to good a time at midfield history said they caught all the sadistic german war criminals.I think the ones they missed ended up in midfield sec.they seem to have pleasure caning and slipper daily especially that bastard seddon.buxton.and wakefield.how the hell I came out with a gce in art was down to one decent guy Mr coote.still living now by the sea makes me appreciate it all the more.I hope old names of the guys around the cray are still alive and kicking.Bobby whybrow.johnny kirwood.Eric west.Mickey bennet.and it any of the guys I played in the band with The Reefers are still around all the best.sadly most of my family have long departed and I do still cherish those days the good and the bad.
