Steeple Aston, St Peter And St Paul's Church c.1955

More about this scene
St Peter's Church has never had a steeple: in this instance, the word steeple derives from the 13th-century word 'stepel', meaning an unfortified tower, which the church does have. The church has been altered many times through the centuries. Church Cottage, on the right, has been modernised, and is no longer thatched.
