Starkey, Knight & Ford's brewery was in Tiverton, and their trademark black horses could at one time be seen all over Devon. Their beer is remembered with misty-eyed nostalgia by all who drank it; the brewery closed in 1965.

Stunning memories, the T.K.C. (Torbay Kart Club) often used to get lost and end up at the V & A, singing naughty songs. Old King Cole, Fini Fini Fini , You will never get to heaven, ect ect. The worst part was navigating back to Paignton along all those narrow blind cornered lanes, with high hedges. From early 1970 to 1975, when I left Brixham, we used to go on a very regular basis, winter times Friday/Saturday, Summer time every night (except Sundays) when I could make it, and sing along with my local friends from Paignton and Brixham with a fine lady on the piano, "Winnie" ,what great times we had!!
