Squeezed between buildings in the Square are alleys, known locally as tures. These follow the patterns of old burgage strips, and on market days, sheep were driven in single file along the narrow ways to be counted.

My relatives lived in Stow in the 1600's. George Churm married Anne Spurrior on the 29 Sept 1695 at Stow Church. George's father, George, was born at Stow in 1630; his father Lawrence was born
in 1600 and married Anne(?) at Stow Church in 1620. Please contact me if you have any further info into the Churm, Spurrior ,Lawrence , Cairn or Webb families of Stow or Wyck Rissington.
