Stowlangtoft Hall

A Memory of Stowlangtoft.

Hi my name is Rita i don't remember much about my time at the hall as I was only 7months old in 1957 when we arrived
Luckily my sister Maria Attard and brother Dominic Attard were a bit older, my sister was 3 years old and brother was 6 years old. I think we were there for a few years as I do have some memories of Christmas when the helicopter with santa getting out and giving us gifts.
I also remember the giant Easter egg they broke up we all had some. Also the camp beds in the conservatory and having to have a sleep.I don't remember any staff but I remember playing near the little stream and the bridge over it.
My sister has a serious bird phobia as one day while we all had sleep time she wandered into the wooded area and disturbed a large rare bird that attacked her as it was nesting when she screamed staff smacked her and shouted at her because she disturbed this bird she is still terrified of any bird around her at 66 years old.
Does anyone remember us?
We left there in early 60s and where moved to Hornchurch cottage homes.
I spent most of my life in care but that's another story .
