So Many Memories
A Memory of Streatham.
The night club under the Post Office was the Fouix Boo.. not sure if that's how it was spelt.
Just up from there was a cafe called the Harbour Lights and a toy shop further up.
I'm trying to find the name of the milk bar that was on the right hand side going up from Stanthorpe Road but before Gleneldon Road.
My dad ran a car hire firm from one of the old stables in Gleneldon Mews.
I lived in Stanthorpe Road and then we moved to Hopton Road and I spent happy times at the ice rink etc.
Saturday morning pictures at the Odeon I think it was and they had a commissionaire on duty outside.
The Rumbling Tim was our favourite hang out but many times we got barred by the owner, Norman Lee, but were always let back in.
The Hopton cafe on the corner of Hopton Road was a les salubrious place but was still fun.
Great place to live then but not so much now.
The Taj Mahal, in the old toilets, was the very first Indian restaurant I ever went to.. Terrific memories.
Thanks.

Our name was Montgomery and we lived in Becmead Avenue. My sister and I went to St.Leonards school. Mr.Stewart was the headmaster there was also Mr.Keeling and I think also a Mrs Merriman.Later went to Ensham school Tooting. Was married in St.Leonards Church in 1973. Used to go to the Locarno, the ice rink and Saturday morning pictures. Nice to hear peoples memories.
