Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

Please Note: Our offices and factory are now closed until Monday 5th January when we will be pleased to deal with any queries that have arisen during the holiday period.

St Helen's School, Streatham Common

A Memory of Streatham.

My sister, Adele, and I went to St Helen's School on the corner of Valley Road opposite Streatham Common. I remember Sheila Tittenshaw and another girl called Eleanor amongst others. I learnt to read there. The headmistress was Miss Tarry. We then went on to Fidelis Convent in Upper Norwood. Marianne nee Pentony

My name was lesley Walton, and I went to st.Helen’s 1954 -1961 when I went on to Virgo fidelis convent. I was friends with Angela Bint, Susan Newman . It would be great to hear from anyone who knew me.

Hi, my name was Carole Amos in 1954 when I started at St Helen's School. I was a pupil there til 1958 when I moved to Immanuel Church Primary School in Factory Lane at the bottom of Streatham Common. I remember Miss Tarry and Miss Howlings and drab little classrooms.

I went to St Helens in 1948 and thought Miss Tarry was very scary. I was there until I was 11 when we moved away. I remember Sandra Tringham and the Hart twins. I loved living in Streatham and going skating and going to Pratt’s every Saturday morning with my parents. We often stayed for lunch. I also loved going to Tooting Bec lido. I remember it was free if you were local. My name was Barbara Gale and I used to live in Braxted Park.

I went to St. Helens School from 1955-1959. My name was Miriam Jackson.
The head of the junior school was Miss Tarry and the senior school Miss Howling, who was very scary.
I was in Rose House and I remember we had a small patch of garden to tend and inter-house competitions.
The small bottles of milk for our break were warmed up on a radiator and always tasted sour...
