Sutton Courtenay, Above The Mill 1890

More about this scene
The River Thames curves eastward north of the village and then converges towards Church Street, some of whose gardens have a water frontage. In this view, looking west along the millstream cut towards the Thames in the distance, the village gardens are on the left; nowadays the trees are less dense, so the houses can be seen. On the right are two footbridges across weirs, the bridges now rebuilt as utilitarian ones with concrete decks and steel railings. River traffic, of course, has since 1807 used the Culham Cut, seen in view A15032.
