My School And Shop,Where I Spent My Pocket Money

A Memory of Sutton Courtenay.

my names norbert, I lived at the abbey in the early 1960 s. so Ionly had a 5 minuets walk to the school. my teacher was mr. vale. if i remember right the headmaster was a mr curd.

i used to go to Rump & Tombs next door to get a ice lolly in the summer times, also spent my 6d pocketmomey there, comics or sweets.

my 1st school was the infant school in bradstockway 1960 and had to walk all up the high street to school (Miss Scinner was teacher).
i really loved sutton courtanay, the green, fun fair in the summer, going to the river, walking along the river path to culham and abingdon to do some shoping at woolworths.
oh, i had such a lovely childhood in sutton.

Comments & Feedback

I'm a few years younger. We left in 1974 when I was 10. Mr curd was still the headmaster. We lived on the green and used to play in the Abbey ground. Mussels was the sweet shop.
All the memories about walking to culham lock really gel with me.
