Memories of Tonypandy
My mother, Helen Wilson was born in Tonypandy in 1924. Her father was Charles Stuart Parnel Wilson. He went to Tonypandy to teach in a school there. Helens mother was Briget O'Sullivan Wilson. I am wanting to learn anything of their time there or hear even the slightest memory of what school this may have been, during that time. Thank you KH
I was born in Glyncornel Hospitla in 1948. I lived in Tonypandy till I was 14. I remember a faggot and peas shop next to Hathaways chip shop, it was called Maceys. It sold freshly cooked meats too. The lovely St George's Park. The mid where schools had their sports day, where we used to play after school (climbing over gate to get in). Tonypandy has changed for the worst.
Sometime between 1900 and 1940 Thomas Arthur Livingston taught in Tonypandy. He had children, is there anyone out there who can provide a clue as to what happened to him, or a photo of the school with or without him.
Does anyone remember my great grandfather, Edward Stanley Carpenter? Does anyone know someone who remembers him as a lay preacher there towards the beginning of the twentieth century? I would love to hear the recollections. Caroline Scot.
