More about this scene

Tylers Green was the centre of a major medieval tile-making industry whose decorated floor tiles were used at Windsor Castle in the 14th century and for paving numerous Chiltern churches. The village surrounds a large green and common and this view looks across the pond towards the bellcote of the 1870s primary school.

That building to the left with the little spire was my school when I was 11 in 1966. I have spent many hours catching newts in that pond in the foreground. It was partly surrounded by a brick and concrete wall and they would tuck themselves into little caves.
