St Salvadoris Convent

A Memory of Abbots Langley.

In the 1950s at 4yrs old, I attended St Salvadoris Convent in Kitters Green, Abbots Langley. I was so happy there. My teacher was Sister Bernosa and the Head teacher Sister Jemma. I understand the Convent burnt down and the flats built. In later years when married, I lived on the corner of Garden Rd and Breakpeare Road and also in a cottage opposite the now gone Apex Garage. Does anyone have any information on the Convent, I cannot find anything online, it's like it never existed. It would be great to hear from anyone who knows.

I also went to this school from 1962 until it closed in 1966? My first teacher was Sr Bernosa but the head teacher was Mother Josephine.... I then went on to the St Saviours in Broomfield Rise...
Oh wow I started to think I imagined it. Nothing anywhere about the convent. Yes Sister Bernosa was my teacher. Small lady, cheerful. Apparently she died when my daughter started Divine Saviour in Broomfield Rise late 1980's. Happy memories for me. If you find any info on the Convent, pictures etc, could you pass onto me. Thanks for getting in touch. Now I know there's someone out there. Thanks. Barbara.
Hello. I always thought the school was called Mater Salvadoris... (or maybe it was it’s motto?) when it closed, (I didn’t know it burned down) I went on to Devine Saviour and my teacher there was Mr Veal.... I took my 1st communion at St Saviours (the old building, before the church as it is now was built) do you remember any names of classmates? I can think of a couple....
Hi Belinda, I did have my report card for approx 60yrs but threw away by mistake, sad.

threw it away by accident, so sad. The logo at top said St Salvatoris. May have changed later. I do

not remember anyone there, I was only 4 and stayed till I was 5. Moved to Watford and went to Holy

Rood School where i had my Holy Communion at Holy Rood Church, then I went to Victoria school

for Girls. The actual Convent where all the nuns lived was down Gallows Hill. When my daughter

started at Divine Saviour, Mrs Sparksman Headmistress told me that Sister Bernosa had not long

passed away.

.

I went to this school from 1949-53. Would love to hear from anyone who went there.
I also went to the convent and Sister Bernosa was my teacher, I moved onto Divine Saviour school in 1967 and onto St Michaels RC in 1973. There are lots of photographs on https://www.facebook.com/groups/399120776859573/?ref=share which is a group set up by a local to the village and there are an abundance of photographs, old cine films of Kitters Green School, and loads of history and comments ...... there is a photo of Sister Bernosa with Sister Rose, my brother and me on that site. Kind regards
