Acock's Green, The Flats, Pemberley Road c.1965

I don't have a memory. All I would like to know, is what stood here before? As the boulevard has some older houses and the Fox Hollies pub would have stood opposite, so would this have been waste ground or hedges or something? Just curious you understand. Do love all these old photographs of how things used to be yesteryear! Thank you.

By chance I have met a local elderly lady called Coral (also a Brummie) who tells me that her late grandfather, William Churchill, lived just off Lincoln Road in Acocks Green, near the Olton border. During WW2, my twin brother and I were born at this house on 2 Nov 1943 to Evelyn and Tom Williams. Dad built an Anderson bomb shelter in the back garden during the early years of the war, and was used by mother and children while dad was away with the Fire Department during bombing raids - we have several photos of our young family playing in the back garden. I was born in 1940 and lived at 27? (it might be another number) Hobmoor Croft. We lived next door to the Lewis family and the other side was the Bessie family. We lived there between 1940 and 1945 when we moved to Erdington.
