Albury School And Albury Village Shops

A Memory of Albury.

I attended Albury school from 1941 to 1948. The headmaster was Mr Wareham, 2 other teachers were ;Miss Vokins and Miss Kemp. I lived in Little London and walked to school as did most of the pupils. I remember shops in the village; Pratts Stores, King the Bakers, Parfrey's Garage, chemist shop, (Mr Francis was the Pharmacist). The Post Office cum shop was run by the Misses Fuller, and I believe their brother was the Postmaster. Also a butchers shop (Reid's?) near to the Bakery.
The local Bus service was the Tillingbourne Valley Bus Co hourly service from Guildford
to Farley Green. The Green Line bus ran through Albury, and Shere to Dorking North Railway Stn.
