This view was taken from the first floor of the present Regatta Restaurant. In the distance Crabbe Street, named after the local poet the Rev George Crabbe, who inspired the work of Benjamin Britten, leads down to the beach and the lifeboat station. The East Suffolk Hotel (the white building, centre right) is now the Aldeburgh Festival Office.
