More about this scene
Perched high on its hill, Alton Castle dominates the area. It was rebuilt in the 15th century, then badly damaged during the Civil War, and rebuilt again. The castle was never a main residence for the Talbot family, though the sixteenth Earl commissioned Pugin to rebuild the place. The remains of the old castle are in the grounds.
