Fabulous Memories.
A Memory of Altrincham.
I was 17 years old when this photo was taken. Four years later I went into the Motor cycle shop on the right and bought an eighteen month old BSA Rocket Gold Star. Without question the finest bike I ever owned. I remember selling it for £195 in 1968 (He bid me down a fiver) so that I had enough money to marry my sweetheart. She still is !
The Rocket Goldie's are being sold for £28,000 now. I'd rather have my sweetheart though. I never did find out what business transpired at the old building as I never saw anyone going in or out.
My Mum talked me into investing £5 in 1959 on premium bonds, two weeks wages, in the National Westminster Bank down the hill behind the photographer. I've never won a penny.
One still wonders what happened to all the old pals that we lost touch with.
