More about this scene
In 1768, Sir Francis Blake Delaval, canvassing for election as MP, and his agent Kellynge invited the Mayor and Corporation and the Colonel and Officers of a local billet to a grand dinner athte George Hotel. Mayhem ensued when it came to paying the bill, for each party believed itself the guest of the other. The Colonel threw Kellynge out of the window, and the latter sued Sir Francis for £500 for a broken leg, the surgeon's bill, and the loss of time and business!
