More about this scene

The church of St Margaret was rebuilt in 1852 and has a tower dating from 1507, which is just visible through the trees. The Pigeon House is a medieval yeoman's house. A Roman villa and bath building, about one mile east of the church, were first excavated in 1819 and again more recently. Harrow Hill is an archaeological site with traces of an Iron Age hill-fort, a group of Neolithic flint mines and a Bronze Age farm enclosure. The scene today is little changed.

I understand that the Inn is due to reopen tonight after an extensive refit.
I first went to Angmering after the war. My grandparents lived there and we used to spend time there in the summer. In those days there were no such things as beach furniture or pic-nic equipment. We had an ex army camp bed and a rug to sit on and we had a primus stove to boil a kettle. I had a bathing costume made from small squares with elastic sewn on the back, when you went in the water it would ...see more
