More about this scene
Modern dormer windows tell us that 'home improvements' are on their way for these small Welsh cottages, and this lady offers morning tea and coffee in hers to visitors on their way to the beaches nearby at Fairbourne and Barmouth. These smaller single-unit dwellings, provided for labourers and quarrymen, are now disappearing fast, either through demolition or through complete and unsympathetic alteration, and they are particularly unsuitable for enlargement.
