More about this scene
Here we see some of the other superb buildings dating from the 15th and 17th centuries which escaped three fires in 1632, 1795 and 1850. The close-timbered building on the opposite side of the road is St John's Guildhall, founded in 1476, and partly occupied by Day's bakery. The adjoining building dates from 1681 and features beautiful pargetting on its upper storey.
