I do not actually remember Auchterarder as I was there for only six months as an evacuee in 1939 from September to March 1940 when we went home and I was one year old. My husband was born in Rosemount - his grandfather's house above his grocery shop in the High Street. His family lived in Auchterarder or Blackford; cousins were Eadie's who ran the bakery, and John Gilmour, the coal merchant who lived in Zona. My father in law was a scratch golfer - holding the course record at Auchterarder golf club.

I, with my three brothers and mother, lived for a while in an apartment near the top end of the town. My father was in the Argyle and Sutherland's.
