Axmouth, The Bridge And Haven Cliff 1895

More about this scene
Despite the masonry facings, this bridge across the Axe is made of concrete, built to the design of Philip Brannon in 1877. It is the oldest surviving concrete bridge in Britain and was scheduled as an ancient monument in the 1970s. In 1990 a new bridge was built to spare the older crossing the weight of today's traffic.
