More about this scene
Westmorland Avenue is one of the roads laid out for residential development between Tring Road and Wendover Road. These early 1950s houses are still pairs of semis with a mix of hipped and gabled roofs, the latter with rendered upper floors; they also have the metal-framed 'Crittal' windows which only went out of favour in the 1960s. Our tour of Aylesbury peters out amid the post-war expansion to accommodate London's overspill.
