My Memory's Of Bampton & Going To School There Ect.

A Memory of Bampton.

My mum & dad & three brother's lived in and around Bampton in the 1950 & 1960, I & my brothers went to the primary & secondary modern schools, My mum & dad went back to live there in the 1970 and lived for about 10 years until mum died in 1981,
We also lived in near by village of Shillingford,
They were happy & sad days, I have many memory's of bampton but one was of when the steam train's that use to run to Tiverton-Dulverton & Taunton & of the Bampton fair that still is held there every year,
Bampton is a very pretty little town in winter & summer, Later in life I went on to work on farms in the Bampton area and also later again got a job collecting milk from farms and use to collect milk from farms in that area so I got to know it very well.

My brother Vaughan Hughes and me, Shona went to Bampton secondary school in early 1970's. Mr Holland was the headmaster, strict but fair and was a .good headmaster. Loved this school and so sorry when we had to leave. We lived in Huntsham and caught 2 buses to get to school, always great fun. Remember the discos in Bampton hall every week. Such happy memories.
