Bardsea, Village And The Ship Inn 1953

More about this scene
At one time Bardsea was part of Lancashire, and could only be reached by boat or by a dangerous route over the shifting sands of Morecombe Bay. Its small harbour was once used to unload coal and take on iron ore and corn from the surrounding countryside. In this photograph of the Ship Inn, a woman is reaching out of the window on the left, fixing bunting, most probably for the Coronation in 1953.
