More about this scene
This is a section of the Trent and Mersey Canal lying to the west of the village. On the other side of the village is the famous Anderton Boat Lift, which was built in 1875 by E Leader Williams. It was constructed to link this canal with the Weaver Navigation, but later fell into disrepair. In 1996 a charity, the Friends of Anderton Boat Lift, was formed to restore and run the lift.
