We are looking towards the corner of Island Road, with Brook and Williams's printers and bookbinder's shop and works on the right; this block of shops later became one of the first department stores in Barry, the Co-op. On the opposite corner is Thomas, the tailors and hosiers; shortly after this photo was taken it became the Biglis Dairy. On the opposite side of the road is the entrance to Barry Docks.

It's Now 2017 And I'm 90 Years Old.
Time has passed quickly and over the years my brother, husband and son passed away. Wonderful memories return as I view this picture. My husband took part in the Penarth Gilbert and Sullivan production of Rudigore and later in Canada became the musical director of severaI local choirs e.g the Barbershoppers. I attended Glamorgan Teacher Training College in Barry, and after a three year training course ...see more

NOT A MEMORY MORE AN ENQUIRY. AN OLD MATE OF MINE WENT TO LIVE IN BARRY IN THE 1960s. HIS NAME DAVE GRACCOPATZZI, I KNEW HIM AS DAI GRACCO. WE LIVED IN PERTHCELYN MOUNTAIN ASH. I'VE ALSO BEEN TOLD HIS BROTHER TONY WENT TO LIVE IN BARRY AS WELL. IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFO. ABOUT THEM PLEASE LET ME KNOW. THANK YOU.

Albert Edward Benjamin Hall
Hello, I am researching for a book about footballers who played for Tottenham Hotspurs in the thirties. I am particularly interested in Albert Hall who I believe was born in Cadoxton, Barry in 1918. I would like to get in touch with anyone who know stories about him or even any relations who would be willing to talk to me. I have information that he was held prisoner by the Japanese when Singapore fell . With thanks John

Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
