I used to go and stay with my grandparents at Merton Lodge. It's the only house left in what was once a whole row, it looks sad and forlorn these days stuck between the new road and bungalows.
My husband and I had our wedding reception here! My mum found the receipt - £75. It was absolutely wonderful. It's still lovely, though not quite as 'individual' as it was back then.
Just wondered what they called "the weir" relating to the weir Tea Gardens in 1959 at Bathampton.
My great-grandmother is burried in the church and owned the George Inn in 1881.
