More about this scene
Founded as a Cistercian abbey by King John in 1204, Beaulieu is Norman French for 'beautiful place'. Much of the building was destroyed at the Dissolution and many of the stones removed to other sites. This photograph depicts the magnificent ruins of the abbey in their timeless setting.
