More about this scene
Taken from the bridge, this view looks along a busy Embankment to Embankment Gardens in the distance with its tree-lined river bank. The south bank is a series of islands linked by footbridges, and is just as popular as public parkland. Commerce was upstream of the bridge, behind the photographer, where the banks were lined with wharves.
