More about this scene
To the right behind the Blackpool sign is the old Floral Hall, which was demolished in 1904. It was built as the town's Corn Exchange in 1849, but was felt to be too small by the 1870s, when a new grander one was built on the north side of St Paul's Square (seen in the second view of Chapter 1, No 39931). The site was not built on again, which further contributed to the opening up of the area around the Square.
