More about this scene
In this view the photographer is looking north from the 'mainland' bank to the bridge, Boatslide Weir Bridge, which links Mill Meadows Island with Longholme. Beyond the weir is the main river and the trees along the north bank of the Ouse. The bridge in the photograph was less than ten years old at the time of the photograph; it has recently been reconstructed, with plain timber balustrades replacing the 1880s ones.
