More about this scene
Front Street is a long wide high street that leads down to the River Blyth. The town is also the birthplace of Daniel Gooch; having served his apprenticeship at Robert Stephenson's works, he was only 21 years old when he was appointed Locomotive Superintendent of the Great Western Railway. Gooch was later knighted and became Chairman of the GWR in 1865.
