Benson, The Square c.1965

More about this scene
Since this photograph was taken, the aptly named Castle Inn has closed and been converted into houses. It still retains its characteristic frontage. About 300 yards from the Square is the parish church of St Helen. The church clock is unusual in that it has two XI Roman numerals but no IX.
