Fishermen try their luck. The Severn has long been a favoured destination of fishermen, especially for salmon and elvers. It is also noted for pike, roach, perch, chub and gudgeon. Further downstream, weir pools have became the haunt for barbel, which were introduced into the river in the 1960s.
