Biddenden, The Village c.1960

More about this scene
Most of the delightful old houses along this street were constructed during the 15th century, at a time when the village prospered as part of the profitable cloth trade centred on Cranbrook. Each Easter Monday it still celebrates the memory of the 'Maids of Biddenden', two Tudor Siamese twins joined at the hips and shoulders who lived for thirty-four years.
