Childhood Memories

A Memory of Binbrook.

Hi Mandy, my name is John Appleton, I was brought up in Binbrook from approx late 1950's, I went to school at Binbrook primary C of E. My first teachers were Mrs Lamming and Mrs Wilky. My first headmaster was Mr Gordon then Mr Fletcher. One of my favourite memories was dancing around the May Pole in the main play ground. Personally I do not recognise your name but our back ground gives us some person identity. I have many memories of my childhood in what was a beautiful setting in the Lincolnshire Wolds, these places of self identity and beauty are for me a thing of they long past through what is now know we as progress. Take care, all the best, John.

Hi John, remember me robert drury, we were mates in Binbrook back in the late50's and early 60's.school days seem so far away ,but then again I am 62 years young. Dancing round the maypole was something I do recall, coloured sash and plimsoles. My fondest memories was school dinners, cause they were cooked fresh and wholesome everyday. My auntie Christine was one of the cooks and my uncle Jack was the caretaker. The kids from R.A.F. camp came to school in a mini bus, whereas us village kids had to walk to and from school in all weathers. Making slides in the playground after a heavy snowfall,62/63 winter was such a time for sledding, snowballing and just being a kid.
