Birmingham, Aston Hall, Entrance Hall 1896

More about this scene
The entrance hall marks a change from those built during the Tudor period; this one is built for show rather than for use as a room. The decoration is outstanding, though the marble fireplace and animal frieze are believed to be early 19th-century. On the left can be seen two of the three archways, and between them is some of the oak panelling that rises to the height of the archway cornices.
