More about this scene

The parish church of St Peter and St Paul is the only church within city limits to be mentioned in the Domesday Book. The west tower and the spire date from the 15th century, though the latter was partially rebuilt in 1776-77. The church itself was extensively remodelled in 1879-90, and further work was done in 1908 when the south aisle and porch were rebuilt.
