More about this scene
The earliest record of the Boar's Head is in 1630. The beam over the fireplace is reputed to have supported the figures of Christ, St Mary and St John across the rood screen in St Michael's church. This was removed from the church in 1547, but soon put back in place. However, in 1570 it was removed again, and found a permanent home in the Boar's Head. A tunnel, whose entrance can still be seen in the cellar, is said to connect to Waytemore Castle. But beware! The cellar is also said to be haunted by the ghost of a Grey Lady.
