More about this scene
This photograph gives us a good view of the new sea wall built as part of the widening of the Promenade. In 1910, the section from North Pier round the Metropole to Cocker Street was widened; the work was completed in time for Easter 1911. The in-fill was sand, brought from the southern end of town by means of a specially laid railway line.
