More about this scene
Taken from the Blue Anchor Hotel's balcony, this view looks across its garden to the promenade. In 1920, the industrialist 'Jack' Lysaght bought the estate; amongst other entertainments, he held open-air jazz concerts on the green. It is rumoured that the young princesses Elizabeth and Margaret once stayed at the summerhouse he built for his wife above the beach.
