Blundellsands To Ince Blundell
A Memory of Blundellsands.
As a child I can remember cycling from Oxford Road, Waterloo to Blundellsands. I then went via what was I think Dibbs Lane leading to Little Crosby where I can remember watching the fields being ploughed using Shire horses. From Little Crosby Village I would cycle along Moss Lane & eventually past the pub called The Pheasant but known to my parents as "Happy's" which I believe was the nick-name of the landlord!. On family outings, I would be parked on a seat outside with a glass of lemonade while my parents went into the pub presumably to enjoy something a little stronger! Continuing on, I would eventually arrive at Ince Blundell where I went pea-picking when in my teens!
Sometimes I would take an alternative route & cycle up Moor Lane turning off & arriving at Little Crosby Village via Virgins Lane. I have always loved Little Crosby Village as it remained unchanged for so many years. My return journey took me past Sniggery Woods & back to Blundellsands & then back home to Waterloo.
