This photograph shows Longford a few years after Anthony Salvin had rebuilt the facade. The original was built by Sir Thomas Gorges on his 250 acre estate at Bodenham. He ran out of money at one stage, and it was only owing to his being granted salvage from an Armada wreck that he had funds to finish the project. Gorges' castle celebrated the Holy Trinity in its construction: it was triangular in shape, with a round tower on each of the three corners. Bodenham was extensively altered during the 19th century.

1968 70
My parents had the shop/ post office from 68-70 and I went to Odstock school. The best years of my life without doubt. Great people in Bodenham, Nunton and Odstock. The Millers lived next to the school. They had 7 kids. Julie was a bit older than me, Glen was my age and Gary (sadly died some years ago) was a year younger. Don't remember the others. Life In The Park.
I was born in Longford Park in April 1942, my father was "Bill" Ashman, head gardener to the Earl of Radnor from 1940 until 1965 (approx).  My younger brother Peter and I were fortunate to have been brought up in the relative calm and prosperity of the Longford Estate immediately after the war.  Many reminders of the estate's wartime role were still evident in those times especially the Nissen huts occupied by ...see more

However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
