The Lockwood Beck Reservoir is situated at the junction of the A171 Guisborough-to-Whitby moor road with the road to Castleton. A familiar landmark, as well as serving as a reservoir Lockwood Beck has for many years been a much-used fishing haunt, and has also been visited by an interesting variety of wild fowl, including the Smew, a rare duck from Scandinavia.
