Boston, Hussey Tower 1893

More about this scene
This mid 15th-century brick tower, here seen in rural tranquillity with cattle grazing, now sits amid football pitches near Boston College's Rochford Campus. The Boston Stump can be seen on the right. Built for the Hussey family, the tower came into the council's hands in 1544 after Lord Hussey was executed by Henry VIII. Built like a castle keep, it was attached to a long-vanished hall, and is clearly influenced by Tattershall Castle not far away.
